Ground Balls Across the Field

Players pair off. P1 gently rolls ball out toward opposite sideline and scoops it, repeats until he has scooped 3x. Then turn around and scoop 3x heading back toward P2.  P2 then does the same thing.

Ground Ball Line Drills (Coach-Assisted)

Split players up evenly into 2 lines about 15 yards apart.  With coach at one end of drill, players will practice scooping ground balls. If going toward coach, pass it to him after scooping ground ball.  If going away from coach, place ball on ground for the next player in line to scoop.

Egg Toss

To perform this drill players should be split into pairs and they must then throw and catch the ball between them and their partner. Each time they make a successful throw and catch they must take a step back so that that it’s getting harder and harder. The last pair to drop the ball (also known as the “egg”) wins the game.

Hungry Hippos

Make 2 5'x5' boxes with cones (or use a hula hoop), split into 2 teams and throw out an odd number of balls. teams start in (or sticks in) the box and go on a whistle. Have to scoop a ball and bring it back to the box. If you drop it, you have to go for another ball. Team with most balls wins.

Stand-Still Shooting

Players form 2 or 3 lines about 7 yards in front of goal, each will a pile of balls.  Players take turns shooting, aiming for the backside 1/3 of the goal. After balls have run out, retrieve and repeat.  Focus on technique and repetition.

4 Corner Scoop & Shoot

Players form 4 lines, 2 behind the goal and 2 above the goal.  Coach will roll balls out to each line, and the first player in each line will scoop the ball, run toward the goal, and take a shot on goal.  After shooting, players rotate to the next line.

Shooting On-the-Run

Players form 2 lines about 15 yards in front of goal, each will a pile of balls.  Players take turns running and shooting, aiming for the backside 1/3 of the goal. After balls have run out, retrieve and repeat.  Focus on technique and repetition.

Rip the Net

At close range, players take turns shooting on net as hard as they can.  Emphasis should be on body mechanics and generating shot power.

Gladiators

Have all of the players form a circle shape on the field with two of the players standing inside of the circle and each given a ball. On the coaches signal the players on the outside of the circle must then poke and slap check at the two players inside but aren’t allowed to move any closer to them. The two players inside of the circle also bump each other. The center player that drops their ball first is out and a new challenger from the outer circle replaces them as the new gladiator.
